Wuyi Mountain consists of a group of low hills, which are made up of red gravel rocks and is featured by Danxia landform. Due to the movement of the earth’s crust, the continuous change of landform results in its exclusive sceneries look like nine-twist stream (Three-three),thirty six peaks (Six-six),seventy two caves and ninety-nine crags, producing such well-known scenic spots like the Nine-twist Stream, Tianyou (Sky-wandering) Peak, Jade Maiden Peak, Great King Peak, A-rift-of-the-sky, Eagle Crag and so on.
Endowed with not only these wonderful natural sights, but also with plenty of cultural relics and historic sites that have been preserved until now, Wuyi Mountain provides us with the precious materials for the studying of ancient culture in that area, for example, the Wuyi Palace, which was one of the top six Taoist temples during the Song Dynasty; the Wuyi Monastery, the Yulin Pavilion Ancient Kiln, the Imperial Tea Garden of Yuan Dynasty, the fortified mountain village of the peasants uprising forces during the late Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty,the 400 inscriptions on precipices, the suspended Boat-shaped coffins in cliffs etc.
